A 5-day Easy Rider loop from Hanoi covers roughly 750 km. You will ride pillion with experienced local guides, experiencing rugged mountain passes, waterfalls, and historic caves. This itinerary packs in the best of Vietnam’s far northeast, concluding with a comfortable limousine bus back to the capital. This 5-day loop is one of the most breathtaking motorcycling routes in Northern Vietnam. It covers monumental waterfalls, historical caves, and pristine lakes.The most logical, scenic, and time-efficient route is: Hanoi → Cao Bang City → Ban Gioc Waterfall → Pac Bo Cave → Ba Be Lake → Hanoi.

Day 1: Hanoi to Cao Bang City (The Gateway north) (L , D )

Morning: 7:30 AM pick up at your hotel and leave Hanoi early via National Road QL1 to escape city traffic. Stop for local breakfast in Lang Son province. 

Afternoon: Wind through the mountain passes of Bac Kan province and climb the scenic Col de Cao Bac. Enjoy the dramatic shift into karst limestone landscapes. Arrive in Cao Bang City. Check into your hotel, walk along the Bang Giang River and dinner at the local restaurant .

Day 2: Cao Bang City to Ban Gioc Waterfall (Border Wonders) ( B , L , D )

Morning: Ride through the famous Ma Phuc Pass, featuring 7 steep tiers. Stop at Nguom Ngoc Cave to explore its massive, naturally lit limestone chambers.

Afternoon: Arrive at Ban Gioc Waterfall, the world’s fourth-largest border waterfall. Take a bamboo raft right up to the thundering cascades bordering China.  Check in at a local homestay in the nearby Khuoi Ky Stone Village, a traditional 400-year-old Tay ethnic village where houses are built entirely of stone.

Day 3: Ban Gioc to Pac Bo Cave to Cao Bang City (Historical Roots) ( B , L ,D )

Morning: Ride along the scenic border roads heading west toward Ha Quang district. Enjoy the sharp limestone pinnacles and quiet farming valleys.

Afternoon: Explore the Pac Bo Historical Site. Visit Lenin Stream (remarkably turquoise), Karl Marx Mountain, and the hidden cave where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in 1941 after returning to Vietnam. Head back south to Cao Bang City for a relaxing evening 

Day 4: Cao Bang City to Ba Be Lake (Into the National Park) ( B, L, D )

Morning: Ride southwest through the high-altitude forests of Phia Oac-Phia Den National Park. The roads here are twisty, remote, and highly rewarding for riders.

Afternoon: Descend into the lush rainforest canopy of Ba Be National Park. Arrive at Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam. Check into a traditional wooden stilt house in Pac Ngoi Village. Enjoy a home-cooked feast with a local Tay family, complete with local corn wine (Rượu ngô). 

Day 5: Ba Be Lake to Hanoi (Waterways & Return)( B, L )

Morning: Take a morning boat tour across Ba Be Lake. Cruise past the An Ma Temple and through the colossal Dau Dang Waterfalls, a giant tunnel carved by the river filled with stalactites and bats.

Afternoon: Hop back on the bikes after lunch. Ride south along QL3 and the newer highway links back toward the Red River Delta.  Arrive back in Hanoi before dusk to conclude your epic 5-day loop.
