This 8-day North Vietnam Red River Easy Rider motorbike loop balances exciting riding on hidden backroads with incredible nature, local ethnic culture, and coastal exploration. Sitting safely behind a professional Easy Rider guide allows you to skip the heavy highway traffic and focus entirely on the epic landscapes. This spectacular 8-day Easy Rider route combines dramatic mountain passes, deep ancient jungles, striking limestone karsts, and tranquil coastal riding. You'll transition from the highlands of the northwest to the rugged seascapes of the Gulf of Tonkin... 

Day 1: Hanoi to Mai Chau Valley (approx. 180 km) ( L, D )
  • Morning: 8:30 AM pickup from your hotel. Your Easy Rider guides steer clear of Highway 6 traffic by utilizing quiet, rural paved roads heading west. 
  • Afternoon: Cruise through the scenic Thung Khe Pass (White Stone Pass), featuring panoramic views of the mountains, before descending into the vibrant green valley of Mai Chau. 
  • Evening: Check into a traditional stilt house in Lac Village or Pom Coong Village. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner hosted by a local White Thai ethnic family, followed by traditional dance and rice wine.
Day 2: Mai Chau to Cuc Phuong National Park (approx. 140 km) ( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: Ride south through sleepy villages, bamboo forests, and massive cornfields following sections of the old Ho Chi Minh Trail.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at the gates of Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam’s oldest nature reserve. Visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center and the Turtle Conservation Center right inside the park entrance. 
  • Evening: Stay in a quiet jungle bungalow inside the park headquarters or at a nearby rustic nature lodge. Enjoy a peaceful dinner surrounded by the sounds of the primeval forest. 
Day 3: Cuc Phuong Jungle Trek to Ninh Binh (approx. 60 km)( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: Ride 10 km deep into the heart of the national park jungle. Hike the short loop trail to explore prehistoric caves.
  • Afternoon: Leave the jungle behind and cruise a beautiful rural backroad route toward Ninh Binh. Arrive in Tam Coc by mid-afternoon.
  • Evening: Climb the 500 stone steps up Mua Cave just before sunset for a breathtaking 360-degree view over the limestone karsts and winding rivers. Stay overnight at a local riverside bungalow. 
Day 4: Ninh Binh Exploration & Ride to Thai Binh (approx. 90 km) ( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: Board a traditional wooden sampan boat for a 2-hour rowed cruise through the towering karst grottoes of the Tam Coc ( three caves Scenic Landscape Complex.)
  • Afternoon: Hop back onto the bikes and ride east across the Red River Delta into Thai Binh province. The route cuts straight through vast, flat ocean-like expanses of emerald rice paddies. Stop to see local farmers working and visit KEO ancient village temples.
  • Evening: Arrive in Thai Binh city. This is an authentic, off-the-beaten-path stop with very few Western tourists. Enjoy cheap, incredible Northern Vietnamese street food like Bánh cáy or Canh bánh đa cua.
Day 5: Thai Binh to Cat Ba Island via Hai Phong (approx. 80 km riding + Ferry) ( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: An easy coastal-delta ride from Thai Binh up into the bustling port city of Hai Phong.
  • Afternoon: Ride to Got Harbor to catch the public ferry across to Cat Ba Island. Once on the island, your Easy Rider will take the coastal cliff road—one of the most thrilling coastal motorbike roads in Vietnam, offering sweeping ocean vistas on one side and jungle mountains on the other.
  • Evening: Check into your hotel in Cat Ba Town. Walk along the harbor and enjoy fresh local seafood right by the water.
Day 6: Lan Ha Bay Cruise & Cat Ba National Park (Rest day for bikes) ( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: Give your motorbike seat a rest. Board a traditional junk boat from Ben Beo Harbor to cruise Lan Ha Bay—the quieter, equally stunning alternative to Ha Long Bay. Kayak through hidden lagoons and swim off secluded white-sand beaches.
  • Afternoon: Cruise past floating fishing villages and head back to the island. If you still have energy, your rider can take you up to the Cannon Fort viewpoint or the Hospital Cave inside Cat Ba National Park.
  • Evening: Spend a second relaxing night in Cat Ba Town. 
Day 7: Cat Ba to Ha Long City via Ferry (approx. 40 km riding) ( B, L,  D)
  • Morning: Ride to the northern tip of the island to Gia Luan Harbor. Board the scenic ferry across the heart of Ha Long Bay directly to Tuan Chau Island in Ha Long City.
  • Afternoon: Ride across the impressive Bai Chay Bridge. Explore the coastline of Ha Long City, taking a cruise along the modern boardwalks or visiting the local fish markets. Stay overnight in Ha Long City.
Day 8: Ha Long City to Hanoi (approx. 160 km) ( B, L)
  • Morning: Begin the journey back toward the capital. Your Easy Rider will avoid the dangerous, boring Expressways and instead lead you through old coal-mining towns and rural villages in Bac Ninh provinces.
  • Afternoon: Stop in Bac Ninh to explore one of Vietnam’s oldest Buddhist pagodas (like But Thap ) and experience traditional Quan Ho folk culture roots. Arrive safely back at your hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter by 5:00 PM, concluding your 8-day adventure.
