7-day Easy Rider motorbike itinerary through the ultimate mountain passes, ethnic markets, and terraced fields of Northern Vietnam. from Hanoi Easy Rider To Mu Cang Chai - Sapa - Bac Ha - Hoang Su Phi Tour - Khau Pha foothills, Thai ethnic villages, hot springs- Khau Pha Pass, Mam Xoi & Tu Le rice terraces- O Quy Ho Pass, Fansipan mountain views-Cat Cat, Lao Chai, Ta Van villages-Lao Cai border gate, Bac Ha culture & local foods-Border-climbing roads, Luoc & Phung rice terraces - Last day is Long ride out of the highlands back to Hanoi . 

Day 1: Hanoi to Nghia Lo (Yen Bai) [L, D]
  • Morning: 7:30 AM - Depart early from the Hanoi Old Quarter. Your Easy Rider guides will weave through the chaotic city traffic using smaller countryside backroads towards Son Tay.
  • Afternoon: Cruise past the sprawling tea plantations of Phu Tho and enter Yen Bai province. The flat roads dissolve into the rolling foothills of the northwest. 
  • Evening: Arrive in the Nghia Lo valley, home to the largest flat field in Northwest Vietnam. Check into a traditional wooden stilt house homestay run by the White Thai community and soak your sore muscles in local hot springs.
Day 2: Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai) [B, L, D ]
  • Morning: Wake up to morning coffee over the fields. Hit the road toward Tu Le valley, famous for its sweet sticky rice. Taste the local cốm (green rice flakes) freshly made by local villagers.
  • Afternoon: Tackle the magnificent Khau Pha Pass—one of Vietnam's four greatest mountain passes. The road hugs cliff edges and rises above massive waves of emerald and golden rice terraces. Stop at the iconic Mam Xoi (sticky rice tray) viewpoint for sweeping panoramic photos.
  • Evening: Sleep in a homestay or eco-lodge right in the middle of the Mu Cang Chai valley, surrounded by the towering hills of the H'mong ethnic minority.
Day 3: Mu Cang Chai to Sapa [B, L, D ]
  • Morning: Leave Mu Cang Chai and ride through the Than Uyen district, famous for its lush green hills lined with endless rows of tea shrubs.
  • Afternoon: Conquer O Quy Ho Pass, the longest and highest mountain pass in Vietnam. This road straddles the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range and gives you front-row views of Mount Fansipan.
  • Evening: Ride down into the cool cloud-draped streets of Sapa. Explore the vibrant town center, hunt for local grilled street food skewers, and spend the night in a cozy boutique hotel. 
Day 4: Sapa Immersive Exploring & Village Trekking [B, L, D ]
  • Morning: Park the bikes for a bit and go on a morning trek through the breathtaking Muong Hoa Valley. Walk past local water buffaloes and bamboo forests to reach the traditional villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van.
  • Afternoon: Interact with the friendly local Black H'mong and Red Dao ethnic minorities. Learn about their ancient batik textile art and deep-rooted indigo dyeing traditions.
  • Evening: Return to Sapa town to unwind, treat yourself to a traditional Red Dao herbal bath, and grab dinner at a panoramic rooftop café. 
Day 5: Sapa to Bac Ha [B, L, D ]
  • Morning: Ride down the curvy mountain descent from Sapa toward Lao Cai City. Stop at the international border gate looking directly across the river into China.
  • Afternoon: Ride uphill along Route 153 into the mist-shrouded highlands of Bac Ha. Visit the historic Hoang A Tuong Palace (H'mong King’s Palace) to marvel at its unique mix of French colonial and traditional Asian architecture.
  • Evening: Relax at a local homestay in Bac Ha. Sip on local corn wine (rượu ngô) and enjoy an authentic homestay dinner. 
Day 6: Bac Ha to Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang) [B, L, D ]
  • Morning: If today is a Sunday, wander the massive, vibrant Bac Ha Market filled with colorful dresses worn by the Flower H'mong people. Afterward, ride toward the rugged town of Xin Man via narrow roads running right along the Chinese border.
  • Afternoon: Navigate winding, off-the-beaten-path roads into the Hoang Su Phi district. This region holds some of the oldest, steepest, and most spectacular national-heritage terraced rice fields in the country.
  • Evening: Overnight at a beautiful stilt-house eco-lodge in Ban Phung or San Sa Ho, watching the stars rise above the dramatic drop-offs of the valley below. 
Day 7: Hoang Su Phi back to Hanoi [B, L ]
  • Morning: Start your longest riding day early by winding down the mountain valleys toward National Highway 2.
  • Afternoon: Ride south past Tuyen Quang province, taking a scenic break near the peaceful waters and quiet islands of Thac Ba Lake. Re-enter the lively, bustling streets of Hanoi by late afternoon or early evening, marking a triumphant end to your epic 7-day Northern motorcycle journey!
